FROM: George Nichols III Commissioner of Insurance

DATE: April 20, 1998

RE: 1998/2000 Consumer Guide to Long Term Care Insurance

KRS 304.14-560 requires this Department to prepare and distribute a Consumers’ Guide to Long Term Care Insurance. The purpose of the guide is to improve the ability of the public to understand long term care, and well as to educate the public on the availability of long term care insurance.

The General Information Form must be completed by all insurers receiving this Bulletin. A Policy Comparison Form should be completed for each approved long term care policy your company proposes to sell in Kentucky during 1998 through 2000. Responses from the Policy Comparison Form will be included in the final guide.

KRS 304.14-560 provides that the cost of the guide shall be paid in assessments on insurers writing long term care insurance in Kentucky. Assessment letters will be sent to you when the guide is completed.

Your continued cooperation in this effort is appreciated.
